The New Browning A5

The new Browning A5 is on it's way.

The original 'Auto 5' design by John Browning was the world first mass produced semi auto shotgun - going into production as early as 1900!

The original Auto 5 was recoil action with the whole action and the barrel moving 3.5" to eject and strip in another round.

The new 'A5' features an 'inertia' based system, and unlike modern semi autos does not use any gases from the shell to power the mechanism - meaning all those fouling gases are kept away from the moving parts.  Browning are confident enough to guarantee this system for 100,000 rounds!

Unlike the old 'Auto 5' the barrel doesn't move, and it also has some of the latest innovations found in Browning guns, such as choke tubes with a brass sealing ring, and a recoil controlling pad.  One feature of the old Auto 5 that is kept - speed loading.  Push a cartridge into the magazine and it is stripped and loaded instantly.  It also keeps the distinct Auto 5 'humpback' making the new A5 a clear descendant of one of the worlds most popular shotguns.

See what Browning say on their website here.

We have a few on order - we'll let you know when they are in store.

The Very High Bird Gun!

The trend for longer barrels to pick out those stratospheric pheasants has seen lengths go from 32inches up to 34inches, but if you are seriously after a long barrelled gun take a look at this Valmet 412 - which comes with a whopping  pair of 36inch barrels!

For comparison underneath is a Browning in 28inch barrel length!  Magnum 3inch chambers, safety, barrel selector and cocking indicators.
